Kayaking with Daddy

Sunday afternoon before school started Josh and Eli went on a Daddy/Son kayaking trip. I was deep in school mode and there was still tons I needed to do before I started school the next day. The kids weren't coming until Thursday, but I wanted to be prepared and the days I had left were dwindling. I'm so thankful that Josh gave me time to work but also found a way to do something that Eli would love and enjoy. These two are the best of friends and Eli is getting to that age now where he is able to go on lots of fun adventures with his Daddy. They came back from their kayaking adventure and were both so excited. I love that Josh knew I would want pictures so he made sure to take some for me. They had an amazing time and I know this won't be the last time these two take off on some fun Daddy/Son adventure.

Josh said Eli paddled the entire time. He wants to be just like his Daddy.

Not going to lie...I stressed out big time when I saw this picture. No life vest and riding on top of the kayak in alligator ridden waters...Josh informed me that it was about 3 feet deep in this area though so that relieved at least one of my fears.

One of my favorite pictures ever! These two are my whole world and I love them with every fiber of my being. I'm so thankful for them and for the relationship they have with each other. My love for Josh continues to grow each and every year, but seeing him with our son just makes me fall in love with him all over again. He's such a wonderful Daddy and I'm so proud of him! I'm so glad their first Daddy/Son kayaking adventure was such a success!

The Last Days of Summer

Instead of doing a post for each summer day we did something special, I've compiled them all into one gigantic post. This summer was incredible! Eli and I truly enjoyed each and every day and our Summer Fun List was a huge success! We managed to do almost every single thing on our list. It's definitely a tradition we'll continue every summer from now on. Here's how we spent the last days of our summer.

Reading books by the pool

Pajama Day at home.
We enjoyed games, movies, popcorn, and lots of rest!

Working on a special door hanger for his new 1st grade teacher.

First day at school trying to get my room together.
Eli was my helper and tightened every screw on my desks.

Nerf Gun fight with my little man

Science Day at home.
Lots of fun doing experiments with my budding young scientist.

Safety first :)

We made our own bouncy ball.

We made glitter slime.

Eli's LEGO characters quickly found themselves trapped in the slime.

Our garden started producing LOTS of okra
and I enjoyed every single little fried bite of Southern goodness.

I got ready for the new school year with my annual Erin Condren teacher planner and some other goodies. If you've never checked out Erin Condren, you need to!!

We celebrated Josh's grandmother's birthday with some yummy food and some homemade ice cream.

Eli chillaxed in my teacher's chair while I worked in my classroom.

We wore com sets made from pipe cleaners while we worked in my room.

My door going into my classroom.
Thank you, Pinterest, for the inspiration.

Eli spent an afternoon at the farm with Tim and B.
He rode in the 18-wheeler to help them deliver beans and loved every minute of it.

These two lovebirds celebrated 35 years of marriage with a trip to the beach.
I'm so thankful for their wonderful example of how fun marriage can be.

I loved seeing all the pictures my mom sent us for their anniversary trip.
They had a great time!

That was how we spent the last part of our summer. It was full of fun, family, and lots of great memories! Now it was time to focus on the start of school :)
