Joshua and Andrea's wedding finally came. Eli and I traveled to Grammy and Pop's house Thursday night to help with last minute rehearsal dinner preparations and to be there for the wedding festivities that would take place beginning the next day.
Grammy had made chocolate cupcakes for the rehearsal dinner to give away as favors and she had a couple test cupcakes left over. Eli decided he needed to test one of those to make sure they were safe for the guests to eat. What do you think he decided?
Yeah, definitely edible! :)
I put Eli down for the night and around the same time my family from North Carolina arrived at Mom and Dad's house. My aunt, Linda, and my cousin, Ginger, came in for the wedding and this was their first time to ever come to Louisiana. Ginger kept reminding me that they would have made the trip down about 8 1/2 years ago, but "somebody" decided to elope rather than have an actual wedding. Oh well, you can't change the past...MOVING ON! Mom put together little Louisiana goody bags for Ginger, Linda, my uncle, John, his wife, Tracy, and their kids, Mercedes and Dalton. This wasn't John's first trip, but it was for the rest of his family. Mom put in signature items like Mardi Gras beads, Louisiana hot sauce, Saints t-shirts, LSU paraphernalia, and other iconic Louisiana items. They all loved their treats!
Mom was so happy to have family members to help her with all the last minute things she needed to do. Ginger, Linda, and Tracy offered their assistance and they were a HUGE help to my mom getting things ready for the rehearsal dinner the next night. The first project they tackled was arranging the flowers for the tables. None of them had ever done it before, but I think they did a FANTASTIC job! By the time they finished the flowers it was close to midnight, so they called it a night and decided to tackle the rest of their projects in the morning.
First thing the next morning the first project on the list was altering the dress I was going to wear for the rehearsal dinner that night. Linda and my grandmother tackled that project and after minor complications with the sewing machine my dress was finished. Thanks, girls! Soon after this, it was time to get ready for the bridal luncheon. We knew we were going to have so much fun!
