Foreshadowing

Please tell me this is not a sign of things to come. Eli loves to open cabinet doors when we're in the kitchen; however, locked cabinet doors do not make him happy. He saw me open the doors under the sink-the ones that house all the cleaning supplies-and he ran to the doors so he could investigate. I was slightly faster than him, grabbed what I needed, shut the doors, and tightened the zip ties so he wouldn't be able to open the doors. Here's how he reacted...can you say temper tantrum??




P.S. Just a note to clarify any misconceptions you may have about why my child seems to always have a messy face at night. He eats his supper and then usually goes straight to the tub very soon afterwards. I don't see the point in wiping his face when he's just going to get cleaned in the tub anyway, especially since he hates having his face cleaned. Just one less battle I'd rather not fight. Oh, and he does wear bibs, but somehow he still manages to get food everywhere!

Eli's Cabinet

Eli has gotten very curious lately and has learned how to open all of the cabinets in our house. We bought cabinet locks awhile back, but just haven't installed them yet. As you can tell from the last post, it's definitely time that we do. However, I wanted to give him one cabinet that he could play in without hearing "No!" all the time. I found a cabinet that would work and filled it with all sorts of plastic bowls, cups, and spoons, and now when I'm in the kitchen cooking, he can play to his heart's desire. His favorite thing to do in the kitchen is get bowls and cups in each hand and slide across the floor with them. This usually provides several minutes worth of his undivided attention and it's pretty cute to see, too! I've attached two videos of him having fun in the kitchen. As you can tell, he loves being able to play like this!

Do You Think We Need Cabinet Locks?

I was cooking supper the other night and Eli was in the kitchen playing with his plastic bowls, cups, and dishes. All of a sudden, Eli climbed into one of the cabinets and shut the door from the inside! I got Josh's attention and he came over to snap a picture of our little man in action. I guess it's definitely time to install those locks now.
