The last week of June was all about hanging out around our house and making fun summer memories. Nothing spectacular happened but we chose to celebrate each day and try to make it fun. For the past seven summers I've always had the school yearbook to work on in the summer. It usually made me feel like an awful mom because I was never "present" for my son because I was spending hours in front of the computer. I remember begging my principal for a planning period for yearbook so I could spend school time working on it instead of personal time. That never worked out so I had to use my summer time (pretty much the ENTIRE month of June) to work on the yearbook. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy working on the yearbook. It was a fun creative outlet for me and I loved the end result. This year though that all changed since I switched schools :) No more yearbook for me! YAY!!! While I did love creating a book of memories for my school kids and friends at school, nothing compares to having my summer with Eli. I have LOVED being able to wake up and not have a "plan". Here are some of the pictures from our last week in June. Man, that month went by FAST!!

Our only plan this week was a play date with Eli's friend, Thomas on Friday. I picked Thomas up around 10 Friday morning and we went to the park for them to play. At one point Eli picked a flower and brought it to me. I put it behind my ear like I've done ever since he first started bringing me flowers and then got all sentimental. It made me wonder how much longer he'll continue to bring me flowers and demand I stick them behind my ear. (For the record, he better continue doing this for the rest of my life! Haha!) Watching Eli grow up is so bittersweet. I love seeing him grow and develop into his own little person, but there are days I long for that sweet little baby/toddler/preschooler so I can hold him and cuddle him once again.

That afternoon after I took Thomas home, Eli and I spent some time playing in the pool. Barkley decided to make himself at home on my lounger by the pool. He likes attention just a little bit if you couldn't tell ;)
Saturday was July 4th, so we woke up and had another pool day. These hot summer days make me so thankful for our pool in the backyard. I think Barkley appreciates it too! There are many times during the day I'll look out the window and see him just sitting in the water on the steps. He loves the water :) After a couple of hours by the pool, we went to Josh's grandmother's house for the day and then later that night we went to the riverfront to watch the fireworks. It was a great day and a great week!
