The House Renovations Continue

On this episode of House Renovations, we look at the Wilson family. Josh and Amanda Wilson are a happily married couple expecting their first child, a boy to be named Eli, in November. Josh and Amanda are wanting to update their kitchen and bring it into the 21st century. So far, they have laid a new countertop and backsplash. Next up on the updating process is painting the cabinets and new cabinet doors. Unfortunately, neither one of them quite realized all this would entail. Amanda, the struggling cook that she is, has completely lost control of her kitchen. Her meals, though they weren't great to begin with, have completely stopped because of the renovations. All of her dishes, pots, pans, and various other kitchen gadgets that she never uses, have now found a home on her living room floor. Nice accessories to the decor, don't you think? Josh and Amanda have resorted to eating take-out or dining in with family members. Any willing friends or family members that would like to cook for this displaced couple please comment below :) Thankfully, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. The painting and the rest of the renovations should only take the rest of this week. We'll check back in later this week and see if the Wilson's have regained control of their kitchen and whether or not the living room floor is still littered with appliances. For now, we'll leave you with some pictures of the progress that has been made at the Wilson house so far.

You Might Be a Redneck If....

Josh and I didn't have a fancy professional grout mixer, so we had to improvise. I think Jeff Foxworthy could have made several jokes about us mixing up grout with a hand mixer!

The Kitchen Makeover is Complete (For Now)

Here are the finished pictures of the first two phases-countertop and backsplash-of our kitchen makeover. Josh and I finished grouting the backsplash tonight. We are so pleased with how it turned out. We still have to seal it, but we'll do that sometime next week. Thanks, Dad and Mom for all your help!

Kitchen Warriors

We are in the middle of a kitchen makeover. Ahh! What are we thinking you might ask? Yes, I know we're about to have a baby. Yes, I know I have a nursery to get ready. Yes, I know my dear husband works full time and has no time to do anything once he gets home. But despite all those reasons we have wanted to remodel the kitchen since we moved into this house. Now just happened to be the perfect time to do it. Last summer we bought new kitchen appliances. This summer will be the major part of the remodel. Since I'm home for the summer I can be here to supervise the workers and help with any on the spot decisions that need to be made. Plus, it is going to be 18 weeks before Eli is here. This first phase-getting granite countertops-is only supposed to take one day. The workers are here right now and probably won't leave until around 6 tonight. I can't wait to see the granite in place. It's going to be so nice!
