One day last week, Sarah and I decided that we needed to take the boys on a summer field trip to the zoo. We decided to venture to the Alexandria Zoo because it's one of the smaller zoos in the state and is just right for three active little boys. Plus, Alexandria has a Splash Pad near the zoo, so we'd be able to cool off after getting all hot and sticky.
This is what happens when you try to take a picture of a soon-to-be 4 year old, soon-to-be 3 year old, and a soon-to-be 2 year old...it never works out.
We really enjoyed taking our pictures in the cardboard cut-outs.
Then Cooper and Eli found a fun alligator passing by and caught a ride for a few.
We loved seeing all the animals at the zoo and the boys especially loved riding the train.
After the train ride, we, of course, had to feed the fish.
The boys loved showing the animals they knew their animal sounds.
We saw all sorts of fun animals.
We attempted another picture of all three boys to no avail...
It was so hot the animals kept in the shade mostly, so in order to see the deer, the boys had to be creative.
We ended our zoo trip with a fruit pop-pop and a carousel ride and had three very happy, but very sweaty boys :)
The clouds started to darken and we knew we needed to get to the Splash Pad before the weather got really bad. We arrived there just in time and it ended up being such a fun time for all three boys.
It wasn't long before it was time to load up and we soon had some very sleepy boys. All in all, it was such a fun day! We can't wait to go on more zoo trips in the fall when it's not quite so hot.
