Looking Back: Fifth Month

Eli's fifth month was full of fun new experiences! Eli really began noticing the camera and would make lots of funny faces whenever he saw it.

And sometimes he would make some really sweet faces, too.

Eli also discovered that he could sit up and view the world. He loved the new view!

It was a big month of first because Eli took his first BIG road trip out of town. We went to Grammy and Pop's house for Easter. Eli was a CHAMP! He slept most of the way there and most of the way back. What a trooper!

Eli went to the mall to see the Easter bunny and had to stop to pick up his very first hat. Now he could look the part of the golfer at least!

Some kids cry when they see the Easter bunny, other scream, Eli was neither. He just chilled! Seeing the Easter bunny was a cakewalk for him! He even gave a little wave to show how much he liked it.

Eli also got to meet his blog friend, Brody. Brody's mom, Cheryl, and I met through a mutual friend, Jamie, and we decided to all meet up together. Eli was so intrigued with Brody's clothes and kept pulling on them during the entire visit. Poor Brody! He handled it so well though.

Eli also got to meet his Uncle David, Aunt Stephanie, and cousins from Texas for the first time.

Sunday morning, Eli got to see what the Easter bunny left for him. He was so excited, he even dressed the part, right down to his cottontail! Eli got lots of sweet goodies from the Easter bunny and enjoyed going through the basket to see his loot!

Later on this month, Eli experience another first...his first tractor ride! Uncle Clare and Mammy had a photo session with Eli on the tractor. He was learning all about farming from Uncle Clare. He needed to be knowledgeable so he could participate in any discussions Uncle Clare and MeMaw Tim might have about farming.

What a fun month it was! We began to discover that each month was always a little better than the last. Being parents to Eli was the best and most fun thing in the entire world!

Looking Back: Fourth Month

Eli's fourth month at home was spent finding his feet and playing with them every moment he got the chance.

He particularly enjoyed them in the bathtub when they were squeaky clean!

He went to his four month check up to see Dr. R where he got shots again and broke all of our hearts with his cries, but was better in no time at all after some loving from Mommy and Daddy.

She gave us the go ahead to try rice cereal with him, so that's what we did! Grammy and Pop came in that same weekend, so they were one of the first people to feed Eli rice cereal. As you can see, he seemed to enjoy it!

Eli also made his first of many trips out to the golf course with his Daddy. He couldn't play, but he brought his clubs anyway. These two are going to spend many Saturday mornings together in the years to come! It's going to be great bonding time for them! :)

Eli also spent his fourth month perfecting his rolling skills. He quickly discovered that rolling over again and again would get him places around the house that he had never been before, like under the end table...

and under Mammy's coffee table at her house.

Since his head and neck control were so much better, we bought Eli an exersaucer and he had a great time checking everything out and playing with it.

The Shirley's even let us borrow Molly's exersaucer so he could use it at Mammy's house. He really loved being able to bounce and play in it....MOST days. There were some days that Mammy was sure someone had placed tacks in the seat because he wanted nothing to do with it!

Eli's fourth month was the month for new toys because he also got to try out his Jumperoo his Uncle Tommy bought him for the very first time. He LOVED it! He eventually got to where he would only jump when he heard the music and he would jump in time to the music. I'm still hoping he gets his Daddy's rhythm and not mine.

March wasn't only Eli's 1st St. Patrick's Day, but it was also when Eli got his first cold. It wasn't bad at all now, looking back, but I remember being really concerned then. First time mom strikes again! Eli spent his 1st St. Patrick's Day at the doctor's office.

The best picture of all though is of Eli having applesauce for the first time. As you can see, he wasn't too impressed. He LOVES apples now though, so it goes to show you don't give up if they don't like it at first...try, try, again!

Looking Back: Third Month

The third month started off kind of sad for us because it was when I had to go back to work. I wasn't happy about leaving Eli, but I was ready to get back into a normal, daily routine. Our wonderful friend, Tammy, or Mammy, as Eli will call her, offered to keep Eli for us when I went back to work. That was one of the best decisions ever! Eli had a great time with his Mammy and Uncle Clare and once he got through that first week, he rarely had a bad day.

Eli's third month also brought some newfound skills-holding his head up really high and rolling! Eli hated tummy time; I mean to the point where he would scream if you just acted like you were going to put him on his tummy. We didn't relent and he finally got it! We were so happy! Very soon after this, Eli discovered that he could roll! It was so much fun to watch him travel around the room by rolling. Eli also started cooing and those were the the sweetest sounds I'd ever heard. He and his daddy would spend lots of time "talking" to each other in the chair. Eventually, they got to hold those conversations with Eli sitting in his Bumbo chair since he could finally hold his head up straight! It was so much fun to see how much he was growing and changing.

Eli celebrated his 1st Valentine's Day!

Looking Back: Second Month

Our second month brought lots of excitement to the Wilson household. We had established a little bit of a schedule with Eli and he was doing great. The eat, sleep, play routine was working best with him, so that's what we did. Mommy milk was doing its job and making Eli get fat and chubby. He weighed almost 13 pounds at his 2nd month well baby visit! WOW! Josh went back to work and Eli and I spent our days at home. I LOVED LOVED LOVED being able to spend this time with Eli and being able to bond with him. My days were spent feeding Eli, burping Eli, changing Eli, playing with Eli, rocking Eli, trying to make him smile, doing photo sessions, and I loved every minute. This Mommy thing was going great!

Eli celebrated his first Christmas and his first New Years and even though he was only two months old, he got lots of gifts-just a foreshadowing of Christmases to come, I guess! Who cares about Mommy and Daddy anymore when you've got a grandbaby to spoil? Eli did show that he wasn't too impressed with Santa. Oh well, maybe next year he'll like him a bit more.

Eli and I started to venture out of the house a little bit. I found that he loved being outside, so we took walks around the neighborhood whenever the weather was nice. He even had his first outside photo session with his friend Jonah. Eli also got to try his hand at dry cleaning when he went to visit Nicki and Mr. Jimmy at work one day. Two months old and they're already putting him to work!

Eli also attended the first of many LSU games at the Welch's house. He even had his own jersey and everything! He was the cutest little tiger in attendance :)

Looking Back: First Month

Our first month at home with our new baby was full of excitement and firsts for all of us. Eli quickly fell into a pattern of eating and sleeping like all new babies do. Our days were spent staring at Eli when he was awake and staring at Eli when he was asleep. Do you think we liked him just a little bit? :) We were so in love with him and couldn't get enough! Josh took off three weeks from work to stay home with me and help me with Eli. I guess the thing I remember the most about this time is that Josh borrowed every season of One Tree Hill that was out on DVD from Nicki so he could watch them while he was home with us. To this day when I hear the theme song "I Don't Want To Be" played by Gavin DeGraw, I always think of that first month with Eli and Josh at home. We literally watched One Tree Hill, or OTH, as Josh called it, from the time we got up until the time we went to sleep.

We had lots of visitors stop by to come see Eli during those first weeks. My grandmother and Mom came back two weeks after Eli was born to stay the weekend with us and we had lots of family and friends from church visit us every day. Mamaw Chandler came by and gave Eli his first bath, which he really didn't enjoy too much. He had his first doctor's visit a week after he was born and got a great report. We were able to meet Dr.R and fell in love with her immediately.

Eli also celebrated his first Thanksgiving during his first month, but he didn't get to enjoy all the great food. He had to settle for Mommy milk instead. He didn't seem to mind too much. We definitely had a LOT to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Eli was a great baby. He slept when he was supposed to sleep and ate when he was supposed to eat. I remember walking around being so exhausted from only getting 4 or 5 hours of sleep at night, but I didn't care because I had him. I loved being a Mommy so much, especially when Eli began to smile at us for the first time right around a month old. It was enough to melt our hearts!
