19 Week Sonogram Pictures

Last time we went to the doctor our baby BOY (so fun to finally say that!) was very shy and would not let us see what he was. We didn't have a problem this time! He was more than happy to let the world know!

The Baby Is a...

Okay, folks the poll has been closed. Why? Because we found out today that we are having a...well, you didn't think I'd tell you that soon, did you? I've got to set up the whole story. Today Josh and I went for our 19 week check up at the doctor. I was excited and nervous, but strangely calm--talk about a paradox! We had tried at our 15 week visit to see what we were having, but our baby was being extremely modest and wouldn't show the goods :) Today the baby didn't have that problem! All along I had thought that I was going to have a boy, but I secretly kind of wanted a girl. Josh has wanted a boy from the beginning, which is typical of most men, I think. They want someone that can carry on the family name, someone that they can relate to, someone that they can discipline a little easier, and in my Josh's case, someone that won't wrap him around their little finger. He didn't want to get soft! J.J., our ultrasound tech, came in and asked us if we wanted to find out what we were having and we both said, "Oh, yes!" I'm such a planner. I have not bought anything for this child except one children's book because I didn't want to start buying until I found out what we were having. Well, look out EBAY, Carter's, and Target because here I come. Josh and I found out that...

That's right people! We're having a little baby BOY!! Josh was so excited when the ultrasound tech told us. He could not get the smile off his face! I'm so happy for him and for us!! Now I can concentrate on a nursery, clothes, names, furniture, etc. since I know what it is now. When I got home from my appointment I called Nicki to come over and help paint my belly message and take pictures for me. Jonahbug came too and he contributed to my message by adding a tiny handprint to my tummy :) Just think...in no time at all my life is going to be full of cleaning up tiny handprints all over my house.

Catching Up...

It's been a long time since I've posted. Here's my apology to those of you who check this site regularly and have noticed there haven't been any changes. Life has been very busy lately. School ended May 23. YAY! I'll vouch that teachers need the break just as much, if not more, than students do. I'm moving into a new classroom at school, so the last couple of weeks of school were spent moving 3 years of stuff I have accumulated in my old room to my new, BIGGER classroom. I'm also the adviser of our school's yearbook and my first deadline was this past Monday. I've been spending about 4 hours a day creating layout pages and uploading pictures. To add to my growing list of things, I'm also co-director of our church's VBS, which is going GREAT, by the way; so I've been busy painting, decorating, meeting, planning, and coordinating that event. Not that I am complaining by any means about my schedule. I like to stay busy. I just wanted to let you know why the updates have not been coming regularly. VBS will be over this Friday and I don't have anything else major going on until SMACK (Summer Music Activity Camp for Kids) begins later this July, so I should be able to post more frequently. Keep your fingers crossed!

This is my catch up blog. I've got belly pictures from several weeks back that I want to post before I post any new ones. I also have a sonogram picture from when I was 15 weeks pregnant. The baby is growing so fast. November is going to get here before we know it!

We tried at the 15 week visit to see what we were having, but the baby was being modest. Today we went back for our 19 week check up and well....you'll just have to check the next post to find out!!

Breaking the Pregnancy Rules

When I first found out we were going to have a baby Nicki loaned me a couple of books for me to start reading. One of those books was "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy," a very cute book for those of you pregnant. In this book one of the first things that author mentions is not cutting your hair when you're pregnant. Her theory is that your whole body is swelling because of your new little person inside you, so you need all the help you can get to make your face look thin. Well, I broke the rule! About a year ago, I decided that I was going to grow my hair with the intention of one day cutting it and donating it to Locks of Love, a wonderful organization that takes donated hair and makes wigs for people who have lost their hair to cancer. Last week I made an appointment with my regular hair salon to get my hair cut this Wednesday, May 21st.

On my way to my parents' house, I made an impulsive decision and called my mom and had her set me up an appointment with her hairdresser. I wasn't going to tell anyone and let it be a surprise for Josh and everyone else when I got home on Sunday. Saturday morning after the baby fair, a quick trip to Target, and lunch at McAllister's, Mom, me, and my grandmother went to the hair salon. They had graciously worked me in to cut my hair. I was so nervous!

I sat down in the chair and explained to the girl that I was going to donate my hair to Locks of Love. Mom was there to document the whole experience for me in pictures. First, they had to measure my hair. Locks of Love needs at least 10 inches of hair in order to make a wig! I knew I wasn't going to have much hair left.

It took two people to cut my hair and about 5 minutes (slight exaggeration) to cut through the ponytail. All I could hear was "snip, snip, snip" and I felt my head getting lighter by the second.

All at once they were finished and handed me my ponytail. I held it up and Mom said it looked like a dead squirrel. Ha! Thanks Mom! Crystal, the girl who cut my hair, did an excellent job of styling my now very short hair. I love my new haircut! It feels like 10 pounds have been lifted from my shoulders. What do you think? :)

Baby Fair

My mom called last week and let me know that there was going to be a Baby Fair in their town that weekend. I loaded up all my stuff and made the trip there. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised with lots of clothes from my mom. She is an EBAY addict, but I'm not complaining, because right now I'm reaping the benefits! She bought me a cute capri outfit, two dresses, and three shirts. Mom didn't forget our baby either...she bought our baby 5 cute shirts that I'll be able to use right after it's born. Thanks Mom!

Saturday morning my mom, me, and my grandmother made the trip to a local hospital where the Baby Fair was being held. It wasn't as big as we expected, but I was able to get a lot of good information, free food (always a plus for a pregnant girl!), and some free stuff! I walked away with formula, a diaper bag, sample diapers, t-shirts, and a receiving blanket. Not bad for a small baby fair :)

And the Baby Is a....

Just kidding! We did try to find out at our last doctor's visit, but I guess Baby Wilson is a little camera shy. So, for those of you who have not voted yet, now is the time. There are only 4 weeks left until we, hopefully, (keep your fingers crossed) find out what we're having. The rest of the visit went great. I have gained a total of 7 pounds since my first doctor's appointment. It feels like more some days! Josh and I also got to hear the heartbeat again. That is probably the neatest part of every visit. It was beating so fast! Dr. Carey said it was probably beating around 150 beats per minute. Every time we go to an appointment and get to hear the heartbeat or see our baby on the computer screen makes us realize again and again how much of a miracle life is. Our God is so great!

The Face Behind the Belly

Since I found out that I was pregnant, all of my pregnant shots have been of my belly. The other day I was getting ready for school and got Josh to take some full length pictures of my tiny baby bump. He thought I was making it poke out. HA! My belly seems to poke out on its own these days. Anyway, hopefully, I will have some more pictures like this in the months to come.
