A Shower For Little Miss Avery

This past Thursday my friends and I hosted a baby shower for a very dear friend of mine, Sarah, from work. Sarah and I have been teaching together for six years now. I was there when her two precious boys, Clayton and Cooper, entered the world, and she was there when Eli entered the world. We have grown close over the past few years, and I was super excited when she came to me at the beginning of the year and told me that surprisingly she was pregnant with her third baby. She and her husband were even more surprised when they found out it was a little girl!! Avery Ann is due this spring, and we can't wait for her to make her appearance! She is already loved by so many people.

Sarah made Eli's hospital door hanger when he was born, and I made one for her second baby, Cooper. As soon as I found out she was having a girl, I couldn't wait to make her hospital announcement canvas for Avery. Sarah's bedding came from Pottery Barn, so I customized the canvas to go with her bedding. I love how it turned out!

We had the shower at Torri's house. (Torri is my friend that took pictures of Eli's 2nd birthday party for me). She decorated her house to look so cute and girly. I loved all the decorations!

It worked out that Sarah's sisters and her niece were in town for her shower. Sarah is originally from Ohio, so she and her sisters don't get to see each other that much. We were so glad that they were able to be here to celebrate this special day with her!

Sarah was given so many precious outfits and dresses. We oohed and aahed over every one of them. It's amazing how many adorable outfits there are out there for girls. I know Sarah is going to love dressing her little girl in all her pretty outfits!

Cooper, Sarah's youngest (at the moment!), helped her open all her gifts. Look at those big, brown eyes!

Sophie, Torri's daughter, gave Sarah a really cute doll for Miss Avery. We all loved it!

Clayton, Sarah's oldest, woke up from his afternoon nap and wasn't in a great mood, so he sat in Sarah's lap the remainder of the shower. He is such a good brother to Cooper, and I know he's going to be a wonderful big brother to Avery.

When we were planning Sarah's shower, we really wanted to give her a special gift; something that she would really love. We thought and thought, and then one day it came to me! I went to etsy.com and found exactly what we were looking for, and we knew it was something Sarah was going to love and cherish forever. When she opened the gift...well, her face says it all. I think we made a good decision :)

We gave Sarah a custom Mommy necklace. Josh gave me one on my first Mother's day and it is something I absolutely adore. I knew that Sarah would feel the same way when she received hers. In fact, I think she's worn it everyday since the shower :)

After all the gifts were opened, Clayton and Cooper serenaded us with some catchy tunes on the piano. Just think, next year there's going to be a little girl up there, too :) Avery Ann, we can't wait to meet you!

King of the Mountain

Tuesday after school, Eli, Maggie, and I walked over to the new house so I could take pictures of the foundation that had just been laid. When we got there, we found a HUGE pile of dirt that was just begging to have a little boy play in it. Eli happily obliged :)

In this next picture, he kept saying, "Kimb, Kimb! Grab my hand, Momma! Hep me!"

He finally got to the top of the pile and I told him to raise his hands and shout that he was king of the mountain. I don't think he understood why I told him to do that, but he did it anyway. He must think I'm a bit crazy sometimes :)

I am head over heels in love with this little boy. I love being a Momma to him. He makes being a mommy so much fun!

Maggie had to join us for the fun, of course. Eli loved that more than anything!

I guess I know what we'll be doing every time we go visit the new house now :)

The Wilson's Build Their Dream House Update

Last week, the builders poured the concrete for our foundation. YAY! They are going to leave it for a week, and then Monday or Tuesday they will begin framing. Thankfully, we have had nothing but beautiful weather all week. so the foundation should be perfect by now!

They also poured the foundation for the garage.

I can't wait to see our house take shape :)

Fish Fry with the Hargons

Last weekend, our friends the Hargon's called and invited us over to their house for a fish fry. Josh and I had just been talking about how good fish sounded, so we couldn't wait!

We told Eli that he was going to get to play with Hannah, and he couldn't wait to see his friend. If you don't read the blog much, Eli and Hannah are two months apart. They go to the same school, are in the same class, go to the same church, and are going to get married one day :) Well, if Diane and I had our way, they would.

We got to their house and Eli immediately fell in love with the pink Barbie four wheeler. Daddy wasn't so impressed with the color, but what can you expect when you're at a girl's house?

I think when we make the move to the next house, this is something we're going to have to get him. He LOVED it and it was so easy for him to drive. (Note: It was easy for him to drive, but getting him to pay attention when he was driving was a completely different issue!) He went around their yard at least 100 times that night! He started off slow, but then he got really serious and put it in high gear and took off! His driving skills aren't quite developed, but he only hit the swing set three times and a tree once...perfectly normal for a first time driver, right?

While Eli was pretending to be in the X-games, Josh and Ty, a buddy of his and Josh Hargon's, decided to play a game of baseball against Ty's son and nephew.

All I can say about the next picture is that Landry is a chip off the ol' block according to people who knew Ty growing up :) He and Ty didn't always see eye to eye about some of the calls that were made regarding Landry's pitches. It was definitely funny to watch though :)

Ty and Josh realized quickly that they better let the boys have their own fun, but they did enjoy getting to relive the "glory days" for a little while. While the boys were having their fun playing baseball, the little ones were having their own fun on the trampoline. Eli loved bouncing and falling down and bouncing and falling down.

Marlie is Hannah's big sister and she is such a WONDERFUL big sister. She was jumping on the trampoline, too, but she made sure to keep an eye on Hannah and Eli. She was the first to help if they fell.

Josh Hargon was our Master Fish Fryer this night. When I asked my Josh who caught the fish we were going to eat, he said "Wal-mart." Josh Hargon likes to fry tilapia he buys from Wal-Mart. Josh and I had never thought about doing that before, so we were curious to see how it tasted compared to white perch, catfish, or bream. To give you a clue about what we thought about fried tilapia, let me just say that Eli inhaled 2 strips of fish within minutes. He loved it and so did we!
Good job, Josh!

When you have a blog, everyone is always willing to indulge you with a photograph. The three guys were no exception. Josh, Ty, and Josh used to hang out together a lot, but then Ty and his wife, Courtney, found jobs somewhere else and they had to move. We love being able to hang out with them whenever they come back to visit.

Eli and Hannah are just too cute for words. I love that my little boy gets to have so many wonderful friends as grows up.

Josh Hargon has an older son named Joshua. While we were in the backyard playing and having fun, he and some of his friends were out riding four wheelers. Before Diane and I took the little ones inside for the night, Joshua and his friend ran into the yard looking like this...

And that folks is what happens when your four wheeler gets stuck and your friend has you get in the back to help push it out. All I can say is I'm glad those boys weren't staying at my house that night ;)

All in all, it was such a wonderful night with our friends. Thanks, Josh and Diane, for the wonderful food. I guess it's our turn next :)
